What the Updater Checks
Nova identifies the exact Nova.exe you launched and asks externals.gg whether a different official release is active. An edited version label cannot trick that check.
Before replacing your file, Nova verifies the update's size, file identity, Windows format, signature, and approved publisher. If those checks do not match, the update is not installed.
What Happens if an Update Fails
The update helper retains a locked backup until the replacement reports a healthy startup. If the new build cannot start correctly, the previous executable can be restored rather than leaving a half-installed state.
Keep Nova on a fixed local path and avoid manually swapping in unknown files, because doing so breaks the exact identity the updater expects.
After Roblox Updates
A Roblox update can change compatibility even when Nova.exe has not changed. Nova checks the current Roblox version and keeps an affected feature unavailable until the needed compatibility information is ready.
Do not assume that launching successfully proves every feature works on the new client. Use the latest official Nova build and watch official support or release information for the affected behavior.
Questions Buyers Actually Ask
Should I download a new Nova.exe after every Roblox update?
Not automatically. Launch the official file and follow Nova's update state. A Roblox update may require validation or a Nova release, but a mirror is never the solution.
Can Nova update an unknown or modified build?
Modified or unrecognized copies are not treated as normal customer builds. Return to your externals.gg dashboard for the official release.
Does a successful update prove every feature works?
No. File validation and a successful build are supporting evidence. Current Roblox behavior still needs feature-specific validation.
